Across the country, organizations like Retrieving Freedom are seeing an unprecedented rise in demand for Service Dogs—while struggling with a sharp decline in volunteers. A recent New York Times article underscored the critical role volunteer Puppy Raisers play in solving this nationwide shortage of Service Dogs for Veterans with disabilities and children with autism.
At Retrieving Freedom, we are preparing to welcome 60 new dogs into our program in 2025. That’s potentially 60 futures filled with promise. But before these dogs can change lives, they need homes, love, and guidance from someone like you.
What does a Puppy Raiser do?
Puppy Raisers foster a future hero during the earliest and most formative months of training. You'll help socialize and nurture a puppy while receiving obedience training and full support from our team. No experience is necessary.
Whether you're in Missouri or Iowa, you can take the first step toward changing a life.
