Retrieving Freedom, Inc. (RFI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that trains service dogs for placement into three main markets, Veterans, children with autism and adults and children with Diabetes.

RFI breeds and trains chosen dogs with the specific traits needed for the duties of service dogs in these markets. Specialized schedules are created for each dog throughout the twenty-four months needed to train a service dog to meet the standards that RFI sets for a  successful placement. RFI’s service dogs are tailored to meet the precise needs of the person with whom they will be placed. RFI is not a “one dog for all” type of organization.

Many organizations, corporations, and people are now contributing to this cause industry wide. RFI invites you to partner in our mission by supporting our efforts to improve the quality of life for disabled veterans and children and adults dealing with catastrophic conditions by providing the aid of a trained service dog.

Retrieving Freedom, Inc. operates out of two locations:

  • Senatobia, Mississippi – Lead by Charles Dwyer
  • Waverly, Iowa – Lead by Scott Dewey

Nationally, the service dog industry is unique in that the need for these dogs out paces the supply. There are multiple not-for-profit assistance dog organizations across the country; however the facilities associated with Assistance Dogs International (ADI) are the true professionals in the industry. Currently there are only 58 companies accredited with ADI.

Locally, both of the RFI locations are serving areas that have an even higher demand and lower supply than the national statistics. RFI is the only ADI candidate member in the areas surrounding both of these locations.

With the leadership and experience of the RFI trainers and staff, Retrieving Freedom’s service dogs can give thousands of hours of assistance care each year to individuals in the search of a more independent life.

Retrieving Freedom places service dogs based upon a special match between the dog and the specific needs of the individual.  Serving these individuals is never based on any racial, social, or financial backgrounds.
